Google recently added a shortcut to the Chrome web browser that lets you talk to their AI, Gemini, without ever leaving the page you are on. It is like having a personal assistant sitting right inside your search bar, ready to read the long stuff for you.

To get started, you don't need to download any fancy software or be a computer whiz. You just need to be using the Google Chrome browser on your laptop or desktop computer.

Here is how it works: Look at the very top of your browser window where you usually type in website names like google.com or news sites. That area is called the address bar. Click into that bar and type the @ symbol followed by the word gemini. It will look like this: @gemini.

As soon as you hit the space bar or the Tab key after typing that, you will see the bar change. It will now say Chat with Gemini. This is your signal that the AI is listening. Now, simply type a request like, Summarize this page in three bullet points, and hit the Enter key.

In an instant, a new tab will open with Gemini already working. It will look at the website you were just viewing and give you a quick, easy-to-read breakdown of the main ideas.

Think of this like a movie trailer. Instead of sitting through the whole two-hour film, you get the highlights in thirty seconds. It’s perfect for checking out long product reviews, complicated news stories, or even those recipe blogs that tell a long life story before getting to the actual cooking instructions.
