Hello everyone, Roger here. Have you ever talked to someone who just did not get the vibe? Maybe you were having a rough day and they started cracking jokes, or you were in a huge hurry and they started telling a long, slow story. For a long time, AI was exactly like that. It was smart, sure, but it was about as emotionally aware as a toaster.
Well, things are changing. The newest updates to tools like ChatGPT are introducing what many are calling a Deep Empathy mode. This does not mean the computer has actual feelings like you and I do, but it is getting much better at picking up on yours.
Think of it like a digital mirror. In the past, if you told an AI I had a bad day, it might give you a bulleted list of ten ways to improve your mood. It was helpful, but it felt cold and robotic. Now, the AI can look at the words you use and the way you structure your sentences to understand your tone. If you seem stressed, it can respond with more gentle, encouraging language. If you are excited about a new project, it can match your energy and get enthusiastic right along with you.
This is a big deal for those of us who are not tech experts. It makes using AI feel less like programming a machine and more like talking to a very helpful assistant. If you use the voice feature on your phone, the AI can even hear the emotion in your voice. It can tell if you are laughing, sighing, or sounding frustrated. It uses those clues to change how it speaks back to you.
Why does this matter? Because communication is about more than just facts. When an AI understands your mood, it provides better support. It can help you draft a sensitive email to a friend, or it can be a sounding board when you are feeling overwhelmed, offering words that actually feel comforting instead of just logical.
The best way to see this in action is to just be yourself. You do not have to use special computer talk anymore. Just speak or type naturally, and you might be surprised at how well the AI gets you.
I would love to hear from you. Have you noticed ChatGPT acting more human lately? Are there ways you are using AI to help manage your daily stress or help you find the right tone for a difficult message? Please share your comments, suggestions, and input on how you are using these tools!
