Hi everyone, it’s Roger. If you’ve ever stared at a draft of an email wondering if you sound too grumpy or if you missed a comma, Apple’s newest update is going to be your new best friend.
Apple is introducing something called Writing Tools as part of their new AI features. Think of it like having a helpful editor sitting right next to you, ready to polish your words whenever you ask. The best part is that you don’t have to open a special app to use it. It works almost anywhere you type on your iPhone, whether you are writing an email, a text message, or a note to yourself.
The Rewrite feature is one of my favorites. Imagine you’ve written a quick note to your boss that feels a bit too casual—like wearing flip-flops to a job interview. With the Rewrite tool, you can highlight that text and ask the iPhone to make it Professional. It will keep your original meaning but change the tone to suit the occasion. You can also choose Friendly if you want to sound a bit warmer, or Concise if you want to get straight to the point. It’s a great way to make sure your message lands exactly the way you intended.
Then there is the Proofread tool. We’ve all been burned by "autocorrect" changing a word to something silly or embarrassing. This new tool is much smarter. It checks your grammar, word choice, and sentence structure. Instead of just changing things secretly, it shows you the suggestions so you can see exactly what is happening. It’s like a quick second pair of eyes checking your work before you hit send.
Using these tools is very easy. Once you’ve typed something out in an app like Mail or Messages, just double-tap a word to select it, or drag the cursors to select a whole paragraph. A menu will pop up near the text. Look for the Writing Tools option. When you tap that, a menu will appear at the bottom of your screen giving you all your choices, like Rewrite or Proofread.
You don't need to be a computer expert to make this work. If you can highlight text, you can use AI to make your writing shine. It’s a simple way to feel more confident every time you communicate.
I’d love to hear from you! Have you tried these new writing features on your phone yet? What other ways are you using AI tools to help with your daily chores or work? Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions.
